I am an aquatic ecologist specialising in ecosystem functioning, functional diversity and freshwater communities interactions. My research focuses on understanding the effects of human-driven global change on biodiversity and ecosystem processes.

Exciting news!

  • 23/03/2026 - Final ajustments of DIMFE project. After submitting a modification of our project, we have been asked for the final modification and paperwork necessary for the approval of the proyect. We will have the final decision after Easter! A step forward to make the restoration of Mediterranean ponds a reality! Link.
  • 17/03/2026 - On my way to ASLO-SIL conference (11-16 May 2026), Montreal, Canada. I have been awarded the Wetzel Memorial Funding from SIL (The International Society of Limnology) to attend the ASLO-SIL 2026 conference. SIL-Awards.
  • 05/03/2026 - Outreach with kind: I went to the school of "Nuestra Señora de la Gracia", in Mahora, Albacete. Kids interviewed me to learn a bit more about aquatic ecology and pond conservation. Link.
  • 04/03/2026 - Manuscript submitted to Nature Ecology and Evolution. We sent our manuscript "Biodiversity enhances pond ecosystem multifunctionality across Europe" for a 2nd round of revisions. Finger crossed!
